Conservation International-Liberia Supports Communities Against COVID-19
On March 2 - 3, 2020, Conservation International(CI)-Liberia distributed personal hygiene and protective materials to 15 communities within its project areas across 4 counties in Liberia to support them in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The support included washing buckets (100), Clorox bleach (15 gallons), disinfectant (15 gallons), powder soap (15 cartons), face masks (35 boxes), hand gloves (15 boxes). Additional face masks and hand gloves were provided to community clinics for use by health workers. During the distribution, CI Liberia staff raised the community awareness about COVID-19 by providing information on prevention measures including proper hand washing, wearing face masks, social distancing and staying at home.
Among the communities that benefitted included Gohn, Falie Zodua, Kanga (North West Liberia landscape), Falie in Robertsport, Bendu’s Town, Bomboja, Mandoe, Ben’s Town, Snafu Dock, Bleewein, Sarwein, Nyangba, Edina City (Coastal landscape), Gbopayee and Yolowee (Northern Nimba Landscape)
CI Liberia is a member of the Liberia International NGO COVID-19 taskforce with specific focus on raising awareness about COVID-19 and on risk communication and Community Engagement.
